Providence’s WJAR has a new News Director. The NBC-affiliate announced on Monday that Content Brand Manager Christopher Lanni has been promoted to News Director.
“Chris is the consummate news guy,” said WJAR GM Lisa Churchville said in making the announcement.

Lanni came to Media General-owned WJAR in 2005 as an Executive Producer and worked his way up to Assistant News Director before being named Content Brand Manager last spring. He has been instrumental in expanding WJAR’s news programming, recently overseeing the launch of its 7pm newscast.
With an eye to the future, Lanni said, “It is a great honor to lead such an accomplished and professional news organization in this exciting, ever-evolving media environment.”
