Fox News won the cable news ratings race during the first week of coverage of the earthquake in Haiti. According to numbers compiled by TVNewser, Fox News won in both total viewers and the 25-54 demo for primetime as well as total day.

In the week following the first full day of coverage in Haiti (January 13), CNN showed a notable jump in viewers and passed Fox News for total day in the 25-54 demo during the middle of the week. Fox News reasserted its ratings supremecy, though, as coverage shifted to the Massachusetts senate race. As Republican Scott Brown won the seat left vacant by Ted Kennedy, ratings for Fox News soared.
