WIAT Snapchat Filter Lets Viewers Look Like Reporters

Media General’s Birmingham, Alabama CBS affiliate WIAT has a fun new snapchat filter that lets viewers see what it looks like to be on TV.

“Have you ever wondered what you would look like as a reporter?” the station asks on its website. “Well here is your chance to find out! Just scroll through the geofilters until you come across the CBS42 Reporter option.”

“Our Digital Director, Sebastian Posey, saw our sister station WTNH do something similar,” WIAT GM Erik Schrader told TVSpy. “We want to increase our visibility on Snapchat (my 17-year old tells me it’s the only place she’ll see us) and this seemed like a good way to dip our toe in.”

“It was a very targeted experiment,” said Schrader. “We had good results and feedback!”
