WHO Anchor Dan Winters to Leave Local TV After 18 Years

By Kevin Eck

WHO anchor Dan Winters said he is leaving local TV to “spend more time with his young family.”

The Des Moines, Iowa station said his “candor and signature humor” will be missed.

“Delivering the news on WHO 13 has always been my dream job,” said Winters. “May 25th, 2004 was my first day. May 25th 2022 will be my last. Until then, I will try to express my gratitude to the people who make this a remarkable place to work. Time is precious. The loss of my sister and nephew gave my life a new perspective.”

In February 2020, Winters’ brother-in-law Richard Logan murdered his wife Diana and son Aaron. Diana Logan was Winter’s sister.

Winters said he will stay in the area. He also said he and his wife have worked opposite schedules since the day they met—and that his kids “deserve a guy who will be there for dinner and bedtime.”
