WHEC anchor Janet Lomax closed out a 36-year career last week, anchoring her final newscast at the Rochester NBC affiliate, which celebrated her retirement with an emotional tribute and reflection on her career.
“You’ve made me feel like a member of your family,” Lomax told viewers, saying she arrived in Rochester for what she thought would be a short stay. “I expected to stay a year or two.”
Lomax announced her retirement in October. As her final newscast drew to a close, co-workers gathered on the set to see Lomax off with a round of applause:
