The Cubs and Tribune have a long history in Chicago. The media company, which had owned the Cubs since 1981, sold the team in 2009 to current owners the Ricketts family. Tribune, which still holds 5 percent of the team, bought the Cubs and Wrigley Field from candy maker Wm. Wrigley.
