WGN Hires Two Sports Anchors and Reporters

By Kevin Eck

Chris Boden and Kaitlin Sharkey have been hired by Chicago CW station WGN as full-time sports anchors and reporters.

Chicago media writer Robert Feder said the move fills two vacancies at the station made by the departures of Dan Roan and Lauren Magiera.

“We are excited to welcome Kaitlin Sharkey to the sports team and to have Chris join us officially,” said news director Dominick Stasi. “Both will be great assets as part of Chicago’s Very Own,”

While Boden’s promotion is effective immediately, Sharkey will join the station Monday.

Sharkey spent two years as a sports anchor and reporter at Fox-owned WFLD in Chicago and three years as sports anchor and reporter at WITI in Milwaukee. She’s also worked at WBAY in Green Bay and WSAW in Wausau, Wisc.

Veteran sports reporter Boden has been filling in at WGN since August 2021. The former Comcast SportsNet Chicago host has been covering local and national sports on Chicago radio and television stations WFLD, WBBM, CLTV, WMVP-AM 1000, WBBM-AM, Tribune Radio Networks, WGN-AM, and WCRX-FM.
