WFTV anchor and reporter Angela Jacobs died Tuesday evening after battling metastatic breast cancer.
Jacobs had worked at the Orlando ABC affiliate since 2013.
The Orlando Sentinel said WFTV anchor Shannon Butler described her as “fiercely loyal to her family and her friends” and told viewers, “I never really asked Angela what she would want me to say about her death. And I realized that’s because she never talked about the ‘what if’. She only talked about her diagnosis so it would help someone else—and only talked about life, because she just wanted to live it.”
Since her first cancer diagnosis in 2020, the station said Jacobs endured 56 treatments and five weeks of radiation over five months. She also underwent four surgeries. The cancer was in remission for almost two years until it returned this year.
Before joining the station, Jacobs spent almost nine years as an anchor and reporter at WTSP in Tampa.
“Angela’s circle was small but mighty. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, partner and mama to her dog, Minka, who she doted on and adored. Forever young, forever beautiful,” said former WFTV anchor Nancy Alvarez.
