WFLD Shuffles Anchors on Weekend, Noon Newscasts

WFLD, the Fox O&O in Chicago, is making changes to its weekday and weekend newscasts.

Amara Walker, who has been freelancing for the station, has been named co-anchor of the weekend evening newscasts beginning October 6. Walker joins Larry Yellen, who previously anchored solo.

General assignment reporter Darlene Hill (pictured) also gets a promotion at WFLD. Beginning October 7, Hill joins Mike Flannery as co-host of “Fox Chicago Sunday.” Dane Placko will step away from the political affairs program to expand his investigative reporting and contribute to the weekday newscasts.

“Darlene’s years of experience reporting from Chicago neighborhoods, courthouses, and institutions give her a wealth of knowledge that complement Mike’s political expertise,” news director Phyllis Schwartz told TVSpy in a statement.

Beginning October 8, Anna Davlantes and Kori Chambers will anchor the noon newscast, replacing Pat Elwood, who currently anchors solo. Elwood will shift his focus to contributing to the morning newscast as a feature reporter.

Davlantes will continue to anchor the 7 to 10 a.m. newscast with Corey McPherrin. Chambers currently anchors at 4:30 solo and with Dawn Hasbrock from 5 to 7 a.m. When the changes take place, Hasbrock will take over anchoring the 4:30 a.m. broadcast.
