Sylvia Perez is joining Chicago Fox-owned station WFLD as weekend anchor and reporter.
Starting Monday, October 3, Perez will solo anchor the weekend morning newscasts. She’ll also file special reports for the 9 p.m. weeknight newscast.
Perez last worked at Chicago ABC-owned station WLS where she had been a midday anchor and evening health reporter for 24 years. She’s also worked at KPRC in Houston, KUSA in Denver, KAMR in Amarillo, Texas and KSWO in Lawton, Oklahoma.
“Sylvia Perez is a name that Chicagoans know and trust,” said vp and news director Matt Piacente. “She brings experience and depth to anchoring and storytelling, and her enterprise reports will bring an added dimension to our 9 p.m. newscast, which saw significant growth in September.”
