WFAA Sports Anchor Mike Leslie: ‘You Don’t Want Our Healthcare System Playing 1-on-5 Against Coronavirus’

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WFFA sports anchor Mike Leslie can’t do a sports block, so instead he’s asking everyone to do their part to stop the spread of the coronavirus in Dallas and across the country.

On Sunday night, Leslie gave a monologue on-air when he would normally anchor sports. During that segement, he referenced a sports reporter’s analogy to social distancing. In the soundbite, the reporter from The Atlantic talked over a graphic that simulated a basketball game.

In the graphic, viewers saw one man playing defensive and about thirty on offense. The reporter is trying to explain to sports fans that 1-on-5 defense doesn’t work. Eventually the defense gets beaten down, just like the healthcare providers if people don’t practice social distancing.”

“You don’t want our healthcare system playing 1-on-5 against coronavirus. So please, stop going to the bars, stop going to parties,” Leslie said.
