WFAA Hires Health Reporter From Houston

By Kevin Eck

TEGNA-owned Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA has hired Sonia Azad as its health reporter.

She replaces Janet St. James, who left the station in March. St. James later revealed she has breast cancer.

“I see it as a big responsibility and it is a big honor to follow her in this role,” Azad told mikemcguff.com who first reported the news. “This is a dream job.”

WFAA news director Carolyn Mungo told TVSpy Azad starts Monday.

Azad worked at Houston ABC-owned station KTRK until March. She was a field reporter and fill-in anchor. She’s also worked in San Diego, Chicago, Waco and College Station, Texas.
