WFAA Contributor Killed by Son

WFAA morning news contributor Stacy Fawcett was killed along with two of her teenage sons after an attack by Fawcett’s older son.

WFAA reports Fawcett’s brother, Justin, told them “that the victim’s 19-year-old son, McCann Utu, went on a rampage — taking knives from the kitchen and stabbing his mom and brother, 17-year-old Josiah Utu, a junior at Plano West High School.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Stacy’s family,” WFAA told TVSpy. “She was a valuable contributor to our WFAA weekend morning team.
She loved sharing her passion for food with us and with the viewers in north Texas, and she will be missed.”

McCann Utu called 911 while repeatedly stabbing himself, Justin Fawcett said. He died later Friday at a local hospital. Stacy Fawcett, 45, and Josiah were already dead when officers arrived.

Fawcett’s brother told News 8 that McCann was never the same after suffering a traumatic brain injury more than a year ago.

Fawcett appeared every Saturday on News 8 Daybreak as our resident food expert.
