The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported multiple sources told them the employee was a station engineer.

Here is the WEWS statement:

Senior management at WEWS found out Monday that a camera was placed in a men’s bathroom by an employee without permission. Although the employee placed this camera in the bathroom with the intention of catching whomever had been repeatedly defacing the bathroom, this was an ill-conceived and inappropriate response to catching a vandal. The camera was removed immediately when management learned it was there.  All of the camera’s recordings have been destroyed, and we have taken the appropriate disciplinary action.
