WEAR-TV, the ABC-affiliate serving the Mobile/Pensacola market, will launch a new morning news show this weekend. Contrary to the implications of its title, WEAR‘s “Three in the Morning Weekend,” will not air at 3:00am but at from 6:00 to 7:00am on Saturdays and Sundays (WEAR broadcasts on channel 3).
WEAR’s new newscast will be helmed by news anchor Liz Nagy and weather anchor Jim Carmack. Accustomed to the early shift, Nagy came to WEAR from WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she also served as weekend morning anchor. Carmack has been with WEAR since 1996, originally starting out as a writer/producer in the station’s promotion department.
“For years local news viewers haven’t had a chance to wake up on weekend mornings and catch a local forecast or find out what’s happening in their communities,” News Director Kyle Brinkman said. “That’s why WEAR has committed to start the only local weekend morning news in this television market.”
