New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU is a couple of days into its planned full month of feature stories and special programming commemorating the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The station has branded the coverage Katrina: 10 Years Forward. It will end on August 29 with the premiere of Chronicle: Children of Katrina, a one hour special focusing on how the youth of southeast Louisiana have fared since the Hurricane.

“Our team of journalists has been working since early spring to develop truly meaningful reports and to explore as many aspects as possible,” said WDSU news director Jonathan Shelley. “This is not about dredging up our past; it’s about understanding our present and plotting our future.”
