Boston ABC affiliate WCVB has hired Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley as its chief legal analyst, a role she will begin when she leaves office tomorrow. “I am proud to join the team at Channel 5,” Coakley said. “I’ve spent my career prosecuting cases before juries and judges. I look forward to providing viewers with unique insights to understand what is happening in court and the impact behind the decisions that are being made from the bench and by the lawyers both in and out of the courtroom.”
Coakley will be a key part of the station’s coverage of two upcoming cases–the trial of former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, and trial of the accused Boston Marathon bomber.
In November, Coakley lost her campaign for Massachusetts governor.
