WGCL has named yet another new news director.
The Atlanta station has gone through more than 10 news directors in the last few years. Steve Doerr recently left.
Matt King is joining the CBS station in Atlanta from WCNC, the Tegna station in Charlotte, N.C.
“Matt’s extensive and impressive accomplishments, experience and leadership make him the perfect fit with our newsroom staff, our management team and our vision,” said CBS46 and Peachtree TV vice president and general manager Lyle Banks. “We are thrilled to have Matt join CBS46 and Peachtree TV!”
King had served as the executive news director at WCNC for the past five years. Under his leadership, the station has won six regional Edward Murrow Awards.
This is a return to Atlanta. He was previously the assistant news director at WXIA.
“My family and I are excited to be returning to Atlanta and I’m looking forward to working with the great team at CBS46 and Peachtree TV,” said King.
