Sarah French will replace Beth Troutman on the WCNC evening newscasts.

French last worked at WHDH in Boston. The Charlotte Observer reports she’ll join Fred Shropshire at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. for the Charlotte NBC affiliate in late March.

“WCNC is thrilled to bring Sarah French to Charlotte,” said president and GM Deborah Collura. “Sarah’s experience covering major news events, advocating for consumer rights and telling original stories are more reasons for viewers to turn to WCNC.”

Troutman left WCNC in January. French had been the morning anchor at WHDH since 2011. She’s also worked at WTIC in Hartford-New Haven, Ct., and KOMU in Columbia, Missouri.
