Fred Shropshire has been named evening anchor for Charlotte, N.C. NBC affiliate WCNC.

Shropshire recently left WTVD in Raleigh-Durham, N.C. where he anchored the 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. news.

‘‘After a nationwide search, we discovered the perfect anchor to join our team was in our own backyard, right here in North Carolina,” said WCNC gm Deborah Collura. “We are thrilled to have such a distinguished journalist join our news team.’’
