WCAU Adds Another Hour of News to Lineup

Philadelphia’s WCAU is expanding their fall lineup to include an extra hour of news during their morning broadcasts, the station announced today.

The NBC O&O will add two half-hours of news a day: one at 4:30 a.m. and one at 11 a.m. The 11 a.m. show will aim to keep viewers from NBC’s “Today” show, which airs from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on WCAU.

“With these changes in our programming lineup, we are confident we can do a better job serving our viewers and their changing lifestyles,” WCAU president and general manager Dennis Bianchi said.

WCAU currently airs “The 10! Show,” an entertainment and lifestle program, at 11 a.m. Under the new programming schedule, they will shift that show forward to 11:30 a.m. timeslot. “We’ll be offering a great balance of local news and entertainment at times when our viewers have told us that’s what they want,” Bianchi said.
