WBRZ has promoted Lee Polowczuk to news director.

Polowczuk was assistant news director of the Baton Rouge, La., ABC affiliate. He takes over for Chuck Bark, who is leaving the station at the end of this year.

“After an extensive nationwide search, the best person to take over the reins from Chuck was right here in the station,” said WBRZ gm Rocky Daboval. “Lee’s experience and knowledge of the Baton Rouge market make him perfect for the continued growth of News 2.”

Before joining WBRZ, Polowczuk served as news director at WPBF in West Palm Beach, Fla., WVUE in New Orleans and WHNS in Greenville, S.C. He’s also worked as a reporter in Monroe, La. and Orlando, Fla.
