WBRE Adds Anchor, MMJ and Producer

Nick Toma has been hired as an anchor for Wilkes-Barre, Pa., NBC affiliate WBRE.

Toma comes from WQRF in Rockford, Ill. He’s also worked in Watertown, N.Y., Springfield, Mass., Salt Lake City, Utah, Anchorage, Alaska and Sacramento, Calif.

“Mr. Toma is a wonderful addition to the Eyewitness News team, his strong journalism background, commitment to viewers and roots to this region of the country will serve our viewers well,” said vp and GM Robert G. Bee.

He joins Candice Kelly and chief meteorologist Josh Hodell on June 12. He’ll work the 5 and 5:30 on WBRE, the 7 p.m. on WYOU and the 6 and 11 p.m. on both WBRE and WYOU.

The station also hired Haley Bianco as a multimedia journalist from WVVA in Bluefield-Buckley, W.V., and Megan Caldwell as a producer. Caldwell graduated from Penn State University on Saturday.
