WBAL Reporter Disputes Washington Post Report on Freddie Gray

By Kevin Eck

Days before Baltimore’s chief prosecutor ruled the death of Freddie Gray a homicide and announced charges against six officers in his death, WBAL investigative reporter Jayne Miller told MSNBC’s Morning Joe, a Washington Post story reporting Gray tried to injure himself was wrong.

As reported by our sister site FishbowlDC, the reporter for the Baltimore NBC affiliate told MSNBC, “The medical evidence does not suggest at all that he was able to injure himself. The force of this injury, akin to have the force involved in a car accident with all that momentum going, that is much more force than you would get trying to bang your head against the wall of the van.”

Based on WBAL’s reporting, Miller says Gray was unresponsive when the second prisoner was loaded into the police van, also contradicting the WaPo report.

Miller also disputed the story Wednesday night on “All In With Chris Hayes.” Watch the video below.
