Wayne Garcia Retires from KPTV in Portland After More Than 20 Years

Wayne Garcia has retired from Portland Fox affiliate KPTV after more than 20 years.

“Two years ago, when I was signing my contract with the station, I told them this is going to be my last contract,” Garcia told the Oregonian. “My 60th birthday was Saturday, and at 60, I feel like I still have a lot in the tank. I wanted to try something different.”

Garcia started working at KPTV in 2002 as an anchor and reporter. He transitioned to management in 2002 as director of news development, a role that involved working with reporters to help them hone their skills.

“That’s kind of what I’m interested in as the next phase,” Garcia said. He also said planned to take some time to figure out what he wanted to do next.
