Dawne Gee, a longtime anchor at Louisville, Ky., NBC affiliate WAVE, has been through a lot over the past few months. Back in October of last year, she had half her kidney removed due to cancer. Then, in February, doctors found a mass in her stomach.
On Saturday, Gee had the mass removed. According to The Courier-Journal, the surgery was a success:
It very much looks like something that is not going to be a big deal,” Baptist Health Louisville surgeon Richard Pokorny told Gee’s family and friends. “If it is not completely benign, it looks like it will be a low grade tumor and this is all we will have to do and she will be done.”
Gee has suffered from a variety of ailments over the years, including benign brain tumors, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
In February, someone started a GoFundMe account in Gee’s name, without her consent. It was later taken down.
