ABC is coming to Albany, Georgia. Albany’s WALB announced on Friday that its parent company, Raycom Media, had reached a deal with ABC to carry full network programming on the station’s .2 digital channel. With the deal, WALB plans to launch the first 7:00pm newscast in southwest Georgia.

WALB 10.2 will be ABC’s 240th network affiliate while the station continues to broadcast NBC programming on its regular channel. The agreement will give viewers in Albany a better way to receive ABC shows while also strengthening WALB’s standing in local news.

“With WALB 10.2 we are looking forward to further serving the viewers and communities of the Albany DMA by providing them a local outlet for ABC programming combined with our award-winning news coverage,” Paul McTear, president and CEO of Raycom Media, said.

WALB General Manager Jim Wilcox is excited to be adding ABC to the station’s tower. “Our new affiliation with ABC will greatly strengthen WALB’s commitment to Albany and south Georgia,” he said.
