Viewers of Waco, Texas NBC affiliate KCEN saw the station’s first African American all-female anchor team this morning.
The milestone was announced by Jasmin Caldwell (pictured right), who posted the news to LinkedIn.
“I am thrilled and honored to work alongside Taheshah Moise (center) and meteorologist Ashley Carter (left),” she wrote. “Having a news team like this is rare. And In full transparency, I told my boss I honestly never thought he would consider putting all of us on the desk. But then he said to me that “It was never about skin color, it was about who was best for the job.”
Caldwell has been a reporter at the station for the last two years. Caldwell replaces Chris Rogers, who left the station last week for a job in Tampa.

We set out to build the best possible team and that’s exactly what we’ve done,” KCEN news director Jim Hice told TVSpy. “We also continue to value diversity in front of and behind the camera, in our newsroom and across our operations as we cover all of Central Texas.”
