A WABC crew covering multiple stabbings in Jersey City became the victims of an attempted burglary.

A station news van was parked outside of the Jersey City Medical Center as reporter Phil Lipof and a photographer covered the story of local man who  had stabbed his wife and four children in a domestic dispute.

According to The Star-Ledger, a man smashed through one of the van’s windows and made off with an armful of electronics.

The WABC crew and several bystanders gave chase.  The thief eventually dropped the stolen items and continued running away.
