WABC Anchor Mistakenly Announces Hillary Clinton’s Death

By Kevin Eck

A mistake by WABC weekend anchor Joe Torres on Sunday may have confused some viewers at the start of the New York ABC-owned station’s 6 p.m. newscast.

“Good evening,” said Torres. “We begin with Hillary Clinton’s death.”

The station then proceeded to report about Clinton’s health scare at the 9/11 memorial ceremony that morning. Cell phone video showed Clinton looking shaky as she left the ceremony early. Her campaign later told reporters the presidential candidate had recently been diagnosed with pneumonia.

“During a live introduction to a story about the health of Hillary Clinton, Joe Torres inadvertently said ‘death’ when he meant to say ‘health.’” a station spokesperson told TVSpy. “It was clear from the context of the story, the reporters’ information and graphics on the screen that Secretary Clinton was alive and recovering.”

The slip hit social media and is now making its rounds on conspiracy websites.

TVSpy double checked the video of WABC below on tveyes and found it to be accurate.
