The Gray Media owned CBS-ABC-FOX triopoly, aka Newsplex, in Charlottesville, Virginia has taken a stand on the station’s coverage of the KKK rally over the weekend.

CBS 19 news director, Val Thompson, spoke to viewer by way of a Facebook message.

“Ever since we got word about the KKK planning a rally in Downtown Charlottesville, we’ve had discussions in our newsroom, what do we do here? What is our responsibility to cover it or not cover it,” said Thompson in the beginning of the two minute video.

He continues to explain the reasoning for the station’s position in covering the KKK rally.

“When you watch our shows tonight you’ll notice we give very little coverage of the actual rally itself. We will not be speaking with any members of the clan on camera. They are a small group of people coming from out of state and they come from a group with a history of intimidation, violence and hate speech,” Thompson continued.
