WXYZ, the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in Detroit, is calling its drive to help out Detroit Public School students and teachers a huge success.

The Scripps-owned station started a campaign to help out Detroit Public Schools after doing stories about the problems faced by students. The station said teachers have staged several sickouts because of their frustration over lack of supplies for the kids. Viewers responded by dropping off 20 tons of supplies at Leo’s Coney Island locations.
