WPIX evening anchor Scott Sanford tried unsuccessfully to make viral video star Grumpy Cat laugh during the evening newscast Monday (video after the jump).
Sanford told jokes including “What do cats eat for breakfast? Mice krispies!” and “What’s your favorite crime drama? Claw and Order!” The cat, as advertised, stayed very still and appeared not to react to Stanford, prompting co-anchor Tamsen Fadal to comment, “That’s exactly how all of us feel about your jokes.”
In other news at the New York City CW affiliate, Stanford was the victim of a teleprompter mishap — or as WPIX called it, “A Ron Burgundy moment” — earlier in the newscast. Both videos are after the jump.
