Jennifer Livingston, the WKBT anchor whose direct on-air response to a viewer who criticized her weight went viral last week, is a guest on “Ellen” Tuesday.
During the show’s taping, Ellen DeGeneres told Livingston she wanted to shoot a promo for the WKBT morning newscast, which Livingston anchors with meteorologist Bill Graul (video above).
“I like you very, very much. I really do,” DeGeneres told Livingston. “I just think more people should watch you. I’m sure that a lot of people do watch you, but I want more people to watch you. So I thought we should do a promo together for your show.”
At the end of the promo, which includes a cameo by actor Matthew Perry, DeGeneres tells Livingston that she is getting a five-day Caribbean vacation.
“You’re going to stay in an ocean view room, get a massage, go sailing, whatever you want to do,” DeGeneres said. “You’re going to relax, because we think you’re amazing.”
The man who wrote the critical email to Livingston offered up an apology to the anchor last week, telling ABC News, “If Jennifer is offended, then I truly apologize to Jennifer. That’s the last thing I ever wanted to do.”
