Veteran Chicago weatherman Jim Ramsey has retired from WGN after three decades with Tribune broadcasting.

Ramsey announced his retired in December, wrapping up 42 years in the business. His departure was very low key.

“Because in true Jim Ramsey fashion, he doesn’t want any pomp and circumstance,” said WGN news director Jennifer Lyons.

Prior to his time in Chicago, he did stints in North Carolina, Colorado and Virigina. Ramsey first worked in news and weather at WLS, the ABC affiliate in Chicago, before leaving for D.C. and running to join WGN in 1987.

His last day at the station was December 30.
