Veteran Newsman Adrian Gibson Dies

Adrian Gibson, a longtime anchor/reporter and weatherman for WAAY in Huntsville, Ala, has passed away at the age of 78. His wife Patty told WAAY that her husband had been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Gibson worked at the ABC affiliate for 34 years, from December 1970 until his retirement in December 2004. He covered many storms during his tenure, including the tornadoes of 1974, 1989 and Anderson Hills in 1995.

WAAY announced his death on Sunday evening, and included a sampling of tweets from friends and colleagues, who expressed their condolences and shared memories of working with Gibson.

He is survived by his wife, Patty.
