Veteran KMGH Reporter Leaving for PBS

By Kevin Eck

Longtime KMGH investigative reporter John Ferrugia is going to work for Rocky Mountain PBS.

Ferrugia has worked at the Denver ABC affiliate since 1992. His last day will be Thursday, Feb. 18.

He came to Denver in 1989 as an anchor and reporter for KCNC when it was owned by NBC. Before that, he was a Washington, DC correspondent for CBS News and was named White House correspondent in 1982. Later, he was the principal anchor for prime time newsmagazine West 57th.

The Denver Post reports “His new job will allow for longer segments on statewide public policy issues and could also include documentaries, although the exact format is still being worked out.”

Ferrugia’s hiring is part of a larger push by Rocky Mountain PBS in recent years to beef up its investigative news coverage.
