Veteran Anchor Cindy Ward Retiring from WSBT

After nearly 30 years at South Bend, Ind., CBS affiliate WSBT, anchor Cindy Ward has announced her impending retirement.

Ward has held a variety of reporter and anchor positions at the station, but was most recently the 5:30 p.m. co- anchor along with Jennifer Copeland.

“I have had the pleasure to work with Cindy for 17 years, and I want everyone to know how much I respect her work and passion for journalism,” said WSBT news director John Haferkamp. “I have learned a great deal from Cindy, and I’m thankful for the times she has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and accept new challenges.”

Ward tells the station she plans to spend her new free time with her family, including her four young grandchildren.

Ward’s last day at WSBT in February 22.
