Pittsburgh’s WPXI has ended its search for a News Director, naming Mike Goldrick to the post that was previously held by Corrie Harding. Goldrick has been the News Director at WHEC in Rochester, NY for the past three years. WPXI general manager Ray Carter, who has been serving as interim News Director, announced the move on Monday.

The top position in the WPXI newsroom was vacated at the end of September, just after the end of the G-20 Summit, when Carter and Harding reached a mutual agreement that Harding would depart the station. Harding had been with the station since 2005.

Before landing his first News Director job at WHEC, Goldrick worked as an Executive Producer at KOMO in Seattle and at WSOC in Charlotte.

“Mike is an energetic, experienced leader who will have an immediate impact in our newsroom,” Carter wrote in an email message to the WPXI staff, announcing the hire. “His combination of experience, creativity and bold leadership will be a terrific fit for us.”
