Univision To Launch Six Hyper-Local Digital Newscasts

Univision is launching six hyper-local versions of its digital newscast, Edición Digital.

The Spanish-language television network launched Edición Digital as the first newscast designed to be simulcast on broadcast and digital platforms.

“As our audiences needs and habits change, we must evolve with them. Edición Digital allows us to experiment and be more engaging and creative with how we present news, content and information to our viewers,” said Chris Peña, svp of news and local media.

The local 30-minute shows will air in five Univision markets. The shows will focus on how national news topics are affecting local communities.  Viewers will have the chance to interact with the hosts during the show using social media.

Shows in California, New York, Dallas and Miami will begin Monday, April 17.

The Houston premiere is Monday, May 8.
