Tribune Adds 2 to Digital, One a Former Executive From Vice

Tribune Media Company has a hired Steven Belser as Head of Creative Strategy and has promoted Steve Baron to Head of Product & Engineering.

Belser will be responsible for launching new editorial franchises and digital business development across all Tribune platforms. Baron will oversee the development of new products and software across Tribune’s media brands.

“Every single day, audiences flock to Tribune Media’s local and national brands for some of the most trusted news, entertainment and sports information in the United States,” said Tribune Media’s Chief Product Officer, Josh Cogswell. “Now, with the power team of Belser and Baron, our next wave of digital growth is well underway.”

Belser comes from NowThis Media where he was svp of production & creative. Before that, he was head of production at Vice Media i Brooklyn, N.Y. Baron was vp of digital content and technology at Tribune Broadcasting. He was vp of interactive at Local TV LLC.

Tribune CEO Peter Ligouri said he was looking to “to explore every possible strategic and financial option with one clear goal: unlock the value” of the company’s stock after its latest earnings call, leading some to believe Tribune was looking to sell off some of its stations.
