Tori Campbell, anchor for FOX owned San Francisco Bay Area station KTVU, told viewers this morning, she’s leaving the station.
While her on-air colleagues were celebrating her 19th anniversary with the Oakland station, she said her last day is going to be mid-June and added, “It just feels like the right time to leave the broadcast industry and pursue other passions in my life.”
KTVU announced her replacement in the mornings would be current evening anchor Gasia Mikaelian.
“We are thrilled that Gasia will be joining Mornings on 2,” said news director Dana Hahn. “Gasia is a Bay Area native whose enthusiasm, experience, and perspective on what matters to the Bay Area viewer made her the logical choice for us.”
Campbell was the anchor who read the now infamous report about the Asiana flight 214 crash at SFO, naming the pilots, “Captain Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Ho Lee Fuk, and Bang Ding Ow.”
ICYMI- I just announced on #KTVU that I’m going to be leaving; last day on air is 6/19. It was a very hard decision but it’s the right time.
