By Kevin Eck

WPTA weekend morning anchor Tony Betton, Jr. is moving to weekdays.

The Fort Wayne, Ind. ABC affiliate said Betton will join Kayla Stewart and meteorologist Nick Marusiak this month as co-anchor of the weekday Morning News. Betton has been anchoring the weekend morning newscasts for the last two years.

“This is an exciting time for WPTA and I’m honored to contribute to the important work that we do as local journalists,” said Betton, who will take over for Samantha Myers, whose final broadcast is set for Feb. 11. “I look forward to waking up weekday mornings with everyone in 21Country.”

Betton will continue to host the station’s weekly Grant Me Hope reports, which focus on area foster children who are seeking a permanent home, and the station’s Young Entrepreneur segments, which are produced in a partnership with Junior Achievement.
