Tom Lindner Leaving KARE After 19 Years

By Chris Ariens

After 19 years with KARE-TV the last 15 as VP of News, Tom Lindner is leaving the Gannett-owned station. The announcement came during an all-hands newsroom meeting late today.

Lindner told the Star-Tribune the decision was not his. “I was simply told that they wanted a change,” he said.

“Tom has been leader of the best newsroom in the country and is leaving us in great shape to continue providing the news and information that our market expects from us,” said GM John Remes in a press release. “He will
be missed.”

“I’ve spent a third of my life at KARE 11,” said Lindner in the release. “I’ve been blessed to lead a team of nationally recognized journalists, storytellers, and all around great people. I have been in awe of their talents and quality work from day one. Now the thrill turns to starting anew in whatever venture awaits.”

Lindner will stay through next week.
