Three WPLG Newsers Are Recovering From Covid-19

Three WPLG newsers who contracted Covid-19 in Miami are on the mend.

Main anchor Nicole Perez and her husband, reporter Roy Ramos, both of whom came down with Covid-19 earlier this month, say they’re feeling much better.

Ramos told the station last week that he was suffering from severe symptoms, including having trouble breathing, while Perez said she had lost her senses of taste and smell. Since then, the couple has been home following doctors orders and keeping viewers up-to-date on their progress.

On Thursday evening, Perez said she was almost fully recovered—and so was Ramos.

The station’s chief meteorologist Betty Davis is also doing better after she was hospitalized this week after coming down with Covid-19. Davis was off air for a week before she shared that she had contracted the virus.

“Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes,” Davis said. “I am home from the hospital continuing my recovery. I believe brighter, healthier days are ahead for me and everyone else battling this horrible virus.”

The three staffers were among nine employees who got sick at the ABC affiliate in Miami. The station has tested 97 employees and family members two weeks ago. Most are recovering well. Some who tested positive never showed any symptoms.
