KCNC sports anchor Vic Lombardi did his best to lead an uprising after the NFL hung a giant poster of Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco on Sports Authority Field at Mile High along with smaller banners around downtown Denver. For non sports fans, that would be like hanging a George Stephanopolous banner behind Matt Lauer on the “Today Show” set.
“By now you’ve heard about the big Joe Flacco banner plastered outside the stadium. That’s the NFL’s doing. It’s part of their kickoff celebration,” Lombardi told viewers on last night’s 6:00 p.m. news. “How about the Flacco banners in downtown Denver? My question is, why? This is our house. Why do they get to decorate our house?”
So the sports anchor for the hometown CBS owned station took it to the streets. He even tweeted his intentions to deface the Flacco banners while asking police to turn a blind eye, “I honor and respect all police officers. But at 2pm today, on the Mall of 16th street, I beseech you – I implore you – to look the other way”
Apparently they heeded his call. Lombardi gave Flacco a sweet 70’s era mustache and taped a “Not in Our House” message to the vinyl banners hanging from street lamps in the city. He led a cheer of “Take it down!” and even let fans beat the banners with what looked like the shaft of a golf club.
Lombardi also recorded several short videos on Tout showing his NFL inspired crime spree.
