Texas Station Hit Hard by Covid-19 Mandates Masks

By Kevin Eck

Harlingen, Texas NBC and CBS station KVEO is instituting additional safety measures to keep staff safe after being hard hit by Covid-19.

An anonymous source told TVSpy that after three staffers tested positive for the virus, the station implemented a mask mandate for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated staffers.

The station’s vp and general manager Jeff Miller sent out an email to staff outlining the new mandate, saying he only arrived at the new policy after speaking with station leaders.

“I’m not a fan of masks hence the short implementation period,” Miller wrote in the email, which was obtained by TVSpy, “but we already are experiencing the impact amongst our team as of today. That said, we will revisit this policy in 2 weeks.”

Miller told TVSpy he couldn’t comment on the health of his staff, but he did tell us the health and safety of his team is a priority. “We are asking everyone to be as safe as possible while still being respectful and professional.”

Team-

As many of the local communities are seeing a rise in Covid cases and the major metro counties in our viewing area are considered “red zones” on the CDC website, for the next 2 weeks we will be bringing back the mask requirements for our personnel for all… both vaccinated and unvaccinated staff members.

I realize this is troubling for everyone, and only thru a consensus of departmental leadership have I arrived at this plan.  Let me clear, I’m not a fan of masks hence the short implementation period… but we already are experiencing the impact amongst our team as of today. That said, we will revisit this policy in 2 weeks.

During this period, I trust our team to be professional and protect themselves and each other as we continue to navigate this ongoing issue. Respect, safety and professionalism by all is the expectation and I’m confident this team will exceed in these standards.

Thank you all,
Jeff
