WRMD, the Telemundo station in Tampa/St. Petersburg, has made two new hires.

Meteorologist Ruben Capote will do the weather during the 6 and 11p.m. weekday shows. Alexis Boentes will cover breaking news.

“Ruben has extensive experience forecasting and analyzing complex weather systems. I’m pleased that he’s joining our news team and proud that for the first time ever, Tampa’s Spanish-language audiences will receive comprehensive, local weather forecasts from a seasoned meteorologist,” said Jayme Ribeiro-Neto, the station general manager. “Alexis is an excellent journalist. His talents, energy and commitment to helping our audiences stay informed will be an asset to our already strong news operation.”
