Telemundo Stations to Add Newscast and Staff

telemundo logoStarting Monday, November 3, Telemundo will launch a weekday 5:30 p.m. half-hour newscast in 14 markets.

The NBCUniversal owned station group also said it will hire nearly 30 employees to support the expanded news schedule.

“Today’s announcement marks a new era for the Telemundo Station Group and Spanish-language news,” Manuel Martinez, president of the Telemundo Station Group said in a statement. “All of our stations have a commitment to deliver the best local breaking news and  weather to our viewers and this expansion will help.”

The new newscast will debut at Telemundo stations in Los Angeles (KVEA), New York (WNJU), Miami (WSCV), Houston (KTMD), Dallas-Fort Worth (KXTX), Chicago (WSNS), SF Bay Area (KSTS), San Antonio (KVDA), Phoenix (KTAZ), Tucson (KHRR), McAllen (KTLM), Denver (KDEN), Philadelphia (WWSI) and Las Vegas (KBLR).
