Telemundo Arizona Names Gilberto Dorrego Lead Anchor at 5 PM

Gilberto Dorrego has been named lead anchor of Noticiero Telemundo Arizona, debuting today at 5 p.m. on Telemundo 39 Phoenix (KTAZ) and Telemundo 40 Tucson (KHRR).

Dorrego has more than seven years of experience with Telemundo-owned stations and has covered local news for nearly a decade. He joins KTAZ and KHRR from Telemundo 20 San Diego (KUAN) where he was an anchor and political reporter since 2020.

“Gilberto is a skilled journalist who has gained tremendous experience covering large and diverse communities for leading Spanish-language newsrooms,” said Noe Gonzalez, vice president of news for KTAZ and KHRR. “We are thrilled to welcome Gilberto to our already talented and award-winning newsroom and look forward to his contributions to our team and audiences.”


The NBCUniversal Local Telemundo Station Group owned stations also named José Ángel Galavis senior multimedia journalist and Javier López Álvarez multimedia journalist.

Galavis joined Noticiero Telemundo Arizona from Telemundo Utah (KULX), where he was a photojournalist and reporter for more than three years.

López Álvarez, who has more than 30 years of experience, joined Noticiero Telemundo Arizona from Telemax Sonora in Mexico, where he held various roles, including photographer, reporter, and anchor. He covers the Tucson market for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona.
